The resort is located in Chongming Island, which is has a well established Eco-tourism industry. The Hyatt Regency is the first international class hotel brand that is built on the island. Being situated  only one and a half hours from Shanghai, the resort has become a popular weekend getaway. The lighting for the exterior is designed very simply to keep the surrounding night sky pristine and to conciously create the big difference compared to the nightscape of Shanghai.
